On April 21, the PERMM Museum of Contemporary Art hosted a lecture by culturologist Dmitry Galkin “Science Art: Science and Technology in the Works of Contemporary Artists”. The lecture was held within the framework of the Digital World creative laboratory, a joint project of Perm University and the Museum of Contemporary Art.
At the lecture, the audience learned the history of the development of Science Art, its present and future. Dmitry Galkin elaborated on the most interesting projects, demonstrating the main trends in contemporary art.
Dmitry Galkin is a theorist of art and culture, a researcher of contemporary art. In 2013 he defended his doctoral dissertation on the philosophical and methodological aspects of artificial life. He studies the use of technology in artistic practices, examines the cultural and political aspects of the development of art in modern society. He is currently a professor at the Institute of Arts and Culture at Tomsk State University and curator of the Siberian branch of the NCCA. At the lecture by Dmitry Galkin, members of the group "Where the Dogs Run" and Sergei Teterin were noticed. After the lecture, the participants of the laboratory could familiarize themselves with the exhibition of Perm graphics "Living Emptiness" and the exhibition of the Russian Museum "Actual Drawing".
